International Affairs and Defence
The disastrous war in Iraq has caused untold suffering, undermined international law, damaged Britain's reputation abroad and left our Armed Forces severely overstretched. The Government must set a strict timetable for the withdrawal of British forces from Iraq.
Britain cannot face the challenges of globalisation by acting alone or simply relying on our relationship with the United States. We must work more effectively with our partners in the European Union, NATO and UN. The EU should reform its policies to tackle issues such as climate change, catching cross-border criminals and delivering economic prosperity.
